Hello all,
my name is Alex. I was first diagnosed as a terminal patient in August 2013. In February 2012 I was diagnosed with colo/rectal cancer. In April I had the tumour successfully removed and was given the all clear. Unfortunately in August the following year, after a CT scan I was informed of mestasses to the Liver and Lungs. Unfortunately, no surgical procedure was possible, so chemotherapy was the only option.
After the first 10 months I was given a break for 8 weeks. After the break, the cells had grown a little and another growth appeared on my spine. The spinal cell was treated with radiotherapy. Meanwhile a new course of Chemotherapy was introduced with some success.
I stay chipper and cheerful most of the time. I've always been an optimistic "glass half full" kind of person. I certainly don't want to be seen as a messenger of doom and gloom. The thought of seeming to be a miserable old git never enters my head.
My only issue at the moment is loneliness, I do feel a little isolated, especially on bad "side effects" days when I can't get out for a walk. I try to make these days as rare as possible, but as the treatment goes on I find it increasingly difficult.
If there are others in the same boat,as it were, I would love to meet up for a bit of general socialising. Maybe for a coffee and a chat, or a visit to the movies, anything really.
So if there are others like me who would welcome a little company, then please do say hell.
Best regards and best of health to you all.
Much love, Alex.
